This blog post has been such a long time coming! In fact, we went to the Wellborn last October and I have been meaning to write a blog post about it since then. Oops…
Let me just start by saying, that The Wellborn is likely one of my favorite places in Orlando so far. I rave about it to anyone and everyone who is looking for a great hangout spot. We were so impressed with the atmosphere, the drinks and the food.
Location
The Wellborn is located in Downtown Orlando, pretty close to Lake Eola. It is a cute little sanctuary filled with trees and historic buildings. It is nestled away, yet still in the heart of Orlando. However, you would never guess with the charming atmosphere and cozy vibes. In addition to the restaurant, The Wellborn is also a boutique hotel!
The Wellborn Experience
The Wellborn has a huge outdoor patio with lots of seating options, lights and greenery. You can also head inside the historic I.W. Phillips house for a plethora of more seating options. Everything has an amazing homey feel and all the workers were fabulous!
Once you find your perfect spot, all you have to do is scan a QR code to order your food and drinks. Afterwards, they are brought directly to your table, and you can always order seconds, thirds, and fourths from your phone! We loved that we never felt rushed and while the workers came by to check on us, it was almost expected that you would be hanging out and just enjoying the company of your party.
Food & Drink at The Wellborn
Now onto the most important part: the food & drinks. First of all, let me just say, Wow! We thoroughly enjoyed all the food and drinks we tried. The food options are more snacky I would say, but you could definitely make a whole meal by ordering a few items. I would suggest trying a couple of their options and sharing with your table!
Also, keep in mind that our visit was all the way back in October so it is very likely the menu has changed since then, but they still have lots of delicious options! Here are there cocktail and food menus as of February 2023:
Now, onto the drinks & food that we got:
The Lone Ranger ($13) and Best Friends ($14)
I got the Best Friends (drink on right), and my boyfriend got The Lone Ranger. I thought my drink was absolutely delicious! It was purple gin, vanilla, lavender and lemon. And just look at how pretty it looks. The Lone Ranger was tequila, lemon and sparkling rose. I also really enjoyed his drink, but not as much as I liked the Best Friends. These are both still available and I highly recommend the Best Friends!
Goat Cheese Croquettes ($14)
Yummm! My mouth is watering just looking at these guys. Fair warning though, I do not believe these are on the menu any longer, so I won’t go into too much detail about them. Just know that we were very impressed by them!
Short Rib Empanadas ($13)
These guys are still on the menu though! My boyfriend loved these empanadas and I also thought they were very tasty. The outside was crunchy, and the short rib filling was moist and delicious.
Final Thoughts on The Wellborn
We had such an amazing time at The Wellborn and I am hoping to go back soon to try some more drinks and food! There menu changes fairly frequently and they usually have specials going on as well. They also offer a special weekend brunch menu! 10/10 recommend The Wellborn! I really don’t think you can go wrong with an afternoon or evening spent here.
